Our original kennel was located on the south shore of Long Island from 1975 until 2012. In those 37 years, Long Island underwent much development, so we started looking to relocate to a more country like setting just as it had once been where we had our kennel, but with more land for our Chows. After four years of searching and looking at hundreds of possibilities, we closed on a 13 acre farm on June First, 2009, located in a the beautiful Delaware Valley of New Jersey, 3 miles from Bucks County, PA. This property is over 70 times larger than the amount of land we had in Long Island. The farm had fallen into disrepair. We could probably write an entire website about what we had to go through, but instead, just look at the two photos below. |

There were 10 buildings on the farm. Two were beyond repair and were torn down. Among the remaining buildings, a large open run in shed, connected to a building with city water and sewer, looked like a great place to convert into a kennel. We submitted plans to the building department in the spring of 2011, the entire kennel construction project was completed in the summer of 2012. | |

Inside Our Chow Kennel:We did all the interior work ourselves, not just all floors, walls and ceilings, but also electrical, plumbing, heating and run installation, which took about 14 months. For the interior, we installed 6'-6" high ceramic tile on all the walls, commercial VCT on the corridor floors, and painted the dog run floors with 100% vinyl chip coated commercial epoxy, with a non-slip treated clear coat. There is grating over a trench drain, along the entire perimeter in all the indoor dog runs, so that we can be hose them down. Also, we have several hoses indoors that can be used inside or outside in freezing temperatures during the winter. ENLARGE PHOTO Our kennel is fully equipped with a full bath, kitchen and laundry room, as well as special dog bathing tub & grooming area. We also have several web cams to monitor the kennel remotely. |
ENLARGE PHOTO There are 20 indoor-outdoor runs, each is about 90 square feet in size. The kennel is heated by a radiant heat floor and is also air conditioned. The ceiling heights throughout the kennel are close to 9 feet ( or higher ) above the floor. |
Outside Our KennelAs all dog runs are indoor-outdoor, our Chows can "hang out" where they want. All outdoor runs are under a roof, so they can be outdoors even when it rains. Although we exercise our Chows during the day, the outdoor runs are sealed concrete, which can be washed easily with a hose. There are 3 large separate exercise runs, where several Chows can be run at the same time. We built planters between these areas where we grow vegetables in the summer. The entire exercise area is about 6,000 square feet and is totally fenced in with a 6 ft. high custom fence that we designed and built. ENLARGE PHOTO |

The FarmOur small farm has many beautiful places where we can walk our Chows. We fenced in a one acre back yard, so our Chows can have a "park" to run in. ENLARGE PHOTO The property also has about ten acres of open fields. Hay is harvested once or twice a year, baled and sold. ENLARGE PHOTO |
One of our favorite places on the farm is the pond, which features an 1800's spring house, as well as many turtles, frogs and fish. ENLARGE PHOTO We had a sign hand made for our farm, with our three Chow logo. It sits on the road in front of our farm: ENLARGE PHOTO We hope you enjoyed this small tour of our kennel and our farm! |
